Trinity Christian Academy Athletes Declare College Intentions at National Signing Day

Recently, Trinity Christian Academy (TCA) celebrated National Signing Day, an annual hallmark within the world of college recruiting. This year, four seniors, Thayer Atkins, Brock Bacon, Brock Thomas and Blake Troiani, signed national letters of intent to compete for various NCAA schools, beginning in the fall of 2014.

Atkins, a recent champion at the Texas Association of Private and Parochial School’s (TAPPS) state wrestling tournament, signed his letter of intent to wrestle at Duke University in Durham, N.C. In addition to winning his weight class at the TAPPS state tournament, Atkins also finished first at the recent Texas Prep State Wrestling Championships, earning him a bid to the National Prep Wrestling Championships on Feb. 20-22 at Lehigh University.

Bacon, a former offensive lineman for TCA, signed with Dartmouth College, declaring his intent to continue his successful football career at the Ivy League school. TAPPS named Bacon a First Team All-District Defense, Honorable Mention Defense, and Academic All-State athlete for his outstanding performance, both on the field and in the classroom, throughout the 2013 season.

Thomas signed with Cornell University to play football as well. This season, Thomas, a former wide receiver, earned First Team All-District Offense, District Special Teams MVP and TAPPS First Team All-State Offense honors.

Troiani also declared his intentions, signing to attend and play soccer at Gordon College, a NCAA Division III and Christian school in Wenham, Mass. Troiani currently serves as captain for TCA’s varsity boys soccer team and was named an All District Second Team player by TAPPS for his playoff performance last season.
