White Rock Rowing Breaks Record at Central Youth Championships, Winning Overall Team and Men’s Points Trophies

Dallas-based junior rowing club wins points trophies for overall team and men’s points, heading straight to nationals

DALLAS, TX – White Rock Rowing, the only Dallas rowing club to hold multiple national youth championship trophies (2014, 2021), took the USRowing Central Youth Rowing Championships by storm. During the two-day championship May 6-7 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, junior athletes achieved a first for the club by securing the overall team and men’s points trophies.

The regional championships is one of the largest regattas in the central region, attracting junior crews from Arkansas, Colorado, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Nebraska, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas. Throughout the event, rowers race in a variety of categories to get to the final event races, which determine national championship qualification.

White Rock Rowing competed in 21 events, winning gold in six and silver in two.

“The White Rock Rowing crew has had an outstanding racing season so far, and the Central Youth Rowing Championships was no exception! It’s just another example of how disciplined and dedicated our athletes and coaches are,” said Sue Ellen Chambers, president of the White Rock Boathouse, Inc. – the nonprofit that manages White Rock Boathouse and White Rock Rowing. “The athletes and coaches have worked incredibly hard this season, and it is the best reward to see it pay off at championships. We plan on carrying that work ethic and focus forward as we continue preparing for nationals in June.”
