Amy Bianchi on Winner's Podium

This year, Oak Crest Private School added a running club to its before-school activities. With two teachers who are experienced long-distance runners and one who has won gold medals in the Olympics, there was no shortage of highly qualified coaches. The club took off with much enthusiasm, and children now gather regularly at the school at 7:00 AM to run and get in shape.

The first success occurred at the Midlothian Cross Country Running Race, where Thiago Galeana, a seventh-grade student, won a medal for being among the first 20 runners out of over 200 to finish.

With the official cross-country season over, the team decided to continue their training and to participate in local races. This past weekend, they competed in the 2023 Toyota Music Factory 5K, and Amy Bianchi, an eighth-grade student at Oak Crest Private School, took first place for her age group.

The Oak Crest Dragons Team is off to a fabulous start!
