Addison Airport has opened a new U.S. Customs and Airport Administration Building at 4545 Jimmy Dolittle. The newly constructed facility, which was built to meet updated standards of Customs and Border Protection, also houses the airport’s administrative staff.

“Addison, as a participant in the U.S. Customs User Fee Airport program, has had Customs services available since 1995,” said Addison Airport Director Joel Jenkinson. “Over time, U.S. Customs and Border Protection has updated its standards. To retain that service, we constructed the new, state-of-the-art facility. We took advantage of the opportunity to add a second floor to the building – because it was very cost effective to do so – to provide new office space for the airport staff.”

The building and connected aircraft parking ramp cost $8.9 million to build. Construction costs were paid for by the airport.

The 3,800-square-foot Customs operation will be available around the clock, seven days a week, though normal operating hours will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday.

With more than 600 based aircraft and approximately 100,000 annual aircraft operations, Addison Airport is an important amenity for area residents and businesses, enhancing quality of life and regional economic competitiveness. Airport operations are showing a recovery from the pandemic conditions of 2020.

“We made sure the new U.S. Customs and Border Protection space will be comfortable for our international travelers,” said Addison Economic Development and Tourism Director Orlando Campos. “The airport is a huge economic driver for the Town, and we have worked hard to ensure our airport guests receive top-notch service in a first-class facility.”
