Bimbo, a brand known internationally for its support of the game of soccer, presented Bimbo Copa Univision 2013, one of the largest soccer tournaments held in North Texas. The tournament was on June 29-30 at McInnish Park.

The first place team in the adult male division and adult female division each won a grand prize of $3,000. This year’s event is attracted over 20,000 players and spectators.

“The tournament supports the youth in Dallas and Fort Worth,” said Rafael Velez, marketing manager at Bimbo Bakeries USA. “We support initiatives that get youth exercising, teach important skills such as teamwork and help our local community.”

You may have seen the “Bimbo” name on soccer jerseys. Grupo Bimbo is the world’s largest baking company with its global headquarters in Mexico City.

Bimbo is a company that is a well-known and respected name in soccer and is an official sponsor of Major League Soccer and Philadelphia Union. Bimbo is also a sponsor of several Mexican Soccer League teams, which have a strong group of followers in the U.S.

Velez adds that partnering with Copa Univision was a natural fit for Bimbo. The company is synonymous with soccer in Mexico and is now expanding its involvement in the sport here in the U.S.

This is the sixth year that we hosted this two-day fun filled event besides great local soccer we will had vendors selling food and beverages.”
