Metrocrest Hospital Authority Undertaking Community Health Needs Assessment

The study will ensure community investments align with most pressing community needs

Carrollton, Texas (February 23, 2021 Date) – The Metrocrest Hospital Authority (MHA) announced today that it will undertake a Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA). The survey will be administered by Community Research Consulting, a research firm specializing in conducting CHNAs.

“We are conducting this assessment to ensure our community investments align with our most pressing community needs,” said John Mahalik, CEO for Metrocrest Hospital Authority. “We will seek perspectives on issues impacting our community from a wide group of partners and stakeholders including health care and social services providers, schools, religious organizations, civic associations, elected officials and others that represent diverse populations within our community.”

The study begins this month with a review of statistical data and interviews with community representatives. In March, an online survey will be administered to collect insights from community service providers and others, followed by focus groups in late spring.

“This is an important part of our ongoing investment in the community,” said Mahalik. “This research is essential to helping us continue to align our funding with specific needs in our community. We look forward to these insights and know the results of this study will make our community stronger.”

Recommendations will be shared with the MHA board for internal planning over the summer. Results of this survey and overall findings from the CHNA will be shared as part of a full report in fall 2021.

MHA is well known for its community philanthropic efforts. In 2020, MHA donated a total of $2 million to 10 local organizations: American Heart Association, Bridge Breast Network, Children's Advocacy Center for Denton County, Children's Medical Center Foundation, Communities in Schools Dallas Region, The Concilio, Essilor Vision Foundation, Metrocrest Services, PediPlace and Woven Health Clinic.
