Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD Council PTA announced that CFB ISD administrators earned two of the top 5 Outstanding Educator awards presented by Texas PTA for their accomplishments fulfilling PTA’s mission: To make every child’s potential a reality by engaging and empowering families and communities to advocate for all children.
CFB ISD Superintendent Dr. Bobby Burns is the 2015 Superintendent of the Year and Dr. Lance Hamlin, principal of Blalack Middle School, is 2015 Secondary School Administrator of the Year. These awards were presented at Texas PTA’s annual Summer Leadership Seminar conference in Dallas. CFB ISD is the only district which had two statewide award recipients.
Catherine Carlin, CFB ISD PTA Council President introduced Dr. Hamlin proclaiming “It’s a great day to be a bear,” the phrase that Dr. Hamlin shares with students and staff each day. “He catches students doing things right, and celebrates that with his ‘Hamlin’s Heroes’ wall. It is a powerful motivator to keep students on the right track.” Dr. Hamlin expressed his appreciation to his Blalack faculty, staff, parents and students: “It takes a team and our team is terrific.”
Diane Dobis, outgoing CFB ISD PTA Council President shared that Dr. Burns "Believes in the importance of Community and Backing the Future of all 26,000 CFB ISD students.”
Dr. Burns encouraged each of the 3,500 Texas PTA members attending the conference to share the good work of Texas public schools- “We educate 5 million of Our Kids every day and work tirelessly to support every student. You know the importance of meeting the needs of very child. This award is probably the most important of my career because it comes from PTA, an organization of parents, teachers and students. Thank you.”
