Education Opens Doors, a Dallas-based nonprofit that empowers students to purposefully navigate through high school to college, is announcing their partnership with all 13 high schools of the dropout prevention charter network Texans Can Academies. Beginning this fall semester, nearly 1,500 students on Texans Can campuses will receive access to Education Opens Doors’ empowering college knowledge program—Roadmap to Success. This unique year-long curriculum will provide Texans Can high schoolers with critical skills and strategies for completing college applications, interviewing for jobs, applying for financial aid, and many other tools essential for academic and professional success.

Of the promising opportunity for students across Texas, Education Opens Doors founder and Executive Director Jayda Batchelder says: “Upon observing the success and life-changing benefits of the Roadmap to Success Program in the Dallas area, our goal has always been to get this program into the hands of as many students as possible. We look forward to partnering with the many fine educators at Texans Can Academies across the state to expand the footprint of our program and equip thousands of families with the tools they need to achieve postsecondary success.”

This sentiment was echoed by Texans Can, “We are excited about our partnership with Education Opens Doors and the opportunities we will be able to offer together to our students to plan their life after graduation,” said James Ponce, Chief of Schools of Texans Can Academies. “Our students are like our family and how they continue their path to success after they leave us is important to us. We want to make sure they have the resources and tools they need to enter college or the workforce, whichever direction they choose. It’s important they, and their parents, are given individual attention and information to help them achieve their dreams.”

As a result of the partnership, Texans Can campuses in Dallas, Garland, Fort Worth, Austin, Houston, and San Antonio will join dozens of other participating schools in receiving Education Opens Doors’:

  • Interactive student manuals designed to guide students through high school to college
  • Complete 20-lesson curriculum delivered in the classroom by teachers and advisers
  • Parent workshop materials on topics including ways to locate and secure financial aid
  • Ongoing program support from Education Opens Doors on-site Impact Managers
